Part-time Purchasing Assistant
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to support their Purchasing Specialist in managing the supply of inventory items. Your primary focus will be to ensure that the correct stock levels are maintained, facilitating on-time and in-full delivery to customers.
This is a great opportunity to work closely with internal teams and external suppliers, ensuring accurate and timely communication of inventory requirements. You will also be instrumental in identifying areas for improvement, driving efficiency, and maintaining a high level of product and service delivery.

£22,308 to £24,000 per annum (pro rata)

Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

The Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock Management:
- Place non-strategic purchase orders and ensure acknowledgment by suppliers.
- Expedite orders where required to ensure on-time delivery.
- Chase overdue orders and resolve delivery discrepancies in collaboration with the warehouse team.
- Process customs clearance documentation for international deliveries.
- Communicate any product, supply, or delivery issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
- Assist in the development of supplier management strategies and risk identification within the supply chain.
- Conduct supply market research.
- Manage the purchasing mailbox efficiently.
- Inventory Control:
- Investigate and resolve any stock discrepancies.
- Support stock-taking activities.
- Cost Management:
- Identify and implement cost reduction/continuous improvement initiatives to deliver the best value at optimal quality and service.
- Work with the product development team to identify alternative products when necessary.
- Invoice Query Resolution:
- Assist the Finance team in resolving supplier invoice queries.
- Purchasing Reporting:
- Support the creation and maintenance of reports on purchasing activity, KPIs, supplier performance, and demand profiles.
The Requirements
Candidate Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal, and able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A positive attitude with a strong determination to succeed.
- An interest in supply chain management, or a keen aptitude to learn.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel).
- Experience with CRM/ERP systems is a plus.
- Prior experience within a purchasing or planning role is advantageous.
