Children’s Home Manager

Our client is part of a wider care group and is currently seeking a Children’s Registered Manager/Home Manager to support a one-child service for a 12-year-old female with highly complex needs requiring 3:1 support 24-7 due to complex PTSD, PDA, ADHD and high-risk behaviors including property damage, aggression, self-injury, and long periods of dysregulation.

Salary

£45k to £60k (depending on experience) plus negotiation for the right candidate.

Hours

Monday to Friday (37 hours per week: office hours, 8 am-4 pm/9 am-5 pm) plus on-call on a rota basis which is currently required once or twice a week (additional payment is made for this).

The Role

There is currently a care team in place supporting this young person, which includes three Health Care Assistants who will work alongside the successful candidate; moving forward, these individuals will be Support Workers. The team also has administrative support and a part-time Care Coordinator.

The successful candidate will need to be on site, except for attending meetings. They will need to be engaged with the young person and the staff team, modelling support strategies, updating risk assessments, and supporting staff to prevent burnout.

This service is not currently registered; however, all the paperwork is complete. Therefore, the successful candidate must be comfortable taking the service to Ofsted for registration.

The Requirements

Key Skills of Successful Candidate:

  • This person will be instrumental in getting the service registered.
  • Please note: the residence/property belongs to the service.
  • The candidate must be a registered manager.
  • The candidate must have Ofsted experience.
  • They will ideally have experience with complex care needs.
  • They must possess at least two years’ experience of working with children/young people.
  • They must have two years’ experience in a position relevant to residential care, i.e. within the last 5 years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children.
  • They must have at least a Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification, with the desire to work towards Level 5, which will be a mandatory requirement of this role. The successful candidate will be required to achieve this within the first 12 months in the role.
  • At least one year’s experience in team management, including undertaking supervisions, 1:1s, disciplinary meetings, and general management of staff in a care role.
  • Experience in attending authority meetings and meetings with family.
  • Should have, or be working towards, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) (“the Level 5 Diploma”); or a qualification which the registered provider considers to be equivalent to the Level 5 Diploma.
